Letter of the Week

School/work for mommy has finished and now it is time to start school with little Gooba.  I have been struggling with not sending Gooba to a preschool type day care since she is not getting all of her basics, yet loving the fact that she stays with her grandparents where she is safe, loved, and healthy.  So I decided this summer I would join these two worlds and start homeschooling Gooba for her preschool years.

Our plan is to learn a letter a week with various words, fine motor skills, crafts, foods, some basic math, and frankly whatever else I could find that she would enjoy.  For some reason, I guess the teacher in me, the thought of being home with a toddler for the whole summer with zero plans and hours of free play terrifies me!

I must admit the idea of homeschooling her for her preschool years has developed from talking to a very close friend of mine (M) who writes the blog Stay at Home Adventures.  We have collaborated on many things and plan to get Gooba and Pretty Girl together once a week.

From teaching together at the start of our careers, to become close personal friends that started over a green bean painted kitchen, to getting married, to having babies, and now raising them, M has been there for me personally and professionally, and fortunately one step ahead so I have someone emulate.  Needless to say this summer holds much needed girl time for the little girls and the mommies too!
