Organize My Life

As I am getting more and more into blogging I've decided that it's time for my blog to grow with me as I grow as a person, a wife, a teacher, and a mother.  I'm dedicating this page to the little nuances I hope to change around my home to make my life a little less chaotic!  I hope you enjoy them as I do and hopefully help your life be a little less crazy too!

The first step towards organizing my life was to start with Gooba's room.  I needed a way to organize her artwork, since the fridge was running out of space, so I took this idea from Pinterest.  I bought some Dollar Tree frames and painted them cute colors and added some ribbons and bows to make them girly.  To do this all over I would have primed the frames first.  Turns out ugly Dollar Tree frame wood is REALLY hard to cover with cheap Dollar Tree paint!  Then I hot glued on some clothes pins so I could easily change her artwork.  To do this all over, I would have hung the clips higher so the artwork was near the top of the frame.  Lessons learned!

The next one was a biggie.  Since we have moved into our new house I have never had a great system for organizing our personal papers.  We also run our restaurant paperwork through the house, so needless to say we are drowning in paperwork!  Also a Pinterest inspiration, I took several different people's ideas for a family message center and came up with something that would work for us.  Our family message center includes, three wipe off frames with sections for To Do List, Notes, and our weekly menu.  I printed all the words on matching scrapbook paper.  It also contains a cork board with a calendar, shopping list, and expandable file folder that I hung up with ribbon.  I keep our bills, potty stickers, note paper, important papers, etc. in there so far.  Everything you see I got at Walmart.  I might eventually cover the cork board with fabric, but for now I LOVE it!

Ok, so my next project, for some reason tackled the space above the refrigerator.  I hate that space!  So I bought two of the blue baskets you see from the Dollar Tree.  The second one is hidden and fits perfectly behind the first one.  The one in the back is all of my JMU recycle mugs and our coozies.  The one in the front is paper plates, bowls, and bagged utensils.  Then I room for all my vases, stacked the cups, and organized the napkins.  There are also some party trays way in the back.  Now I can open my cabinet without anything falling out!  Yeah!
